We've begun a new series of video tutorials for the Mines of Moria radiance instances. While we've had a lot of fun going through and learning the ins and outs of these fun and creative instances, we thought we'd put our knowledge and wisdom to practical use and share what we've gleaned with our visitors and members.

The public test server, Bullroarer, has been updated with the first version of the Book 8 update. This update is still preliminary and aspects of it are subject to change, but its an opportunity to peer into the crystal ball and see what changes are in store for the game in the near future. So without further ado, I'll link the Bullroarer Book 8 Patch Notes.

For those without time to read though that hefty list, be on the lookout for the Book 8 Cliff's Patch notes, due sometime this weekend.

Turbine recently announced a contest, revolving around Kinships. The general idea is that the Kinships to have the most levels gains within a certain period of time will win.

Here are the specifics as stated on the LOTRO Forums:

WHAT IS THE “ONE KINSHIP TO RULE THEM ALL” KINSHIP CONTEST?
The contest is a leveling race. The kinships that level up the most and the fastest will win! Starting at noon EDT on May 21 and running through noon EDT on June 15, every new character created is tracked in a special database.

As mentioned at the LotRO main site and the game login, Turbine will be running a stress test on their public test server Bullroarer on Thursday. Basically, they're testing some new server software which is supposed to perform much better than what they have now, making for much more stable servers. As incentive, they're offering prizes just for logging in during the stress test, which will occur between 9-11 PM eastern (6-8 PM pacific), though only U.S. citizens are eligible to win.

All you need is to download, install, and patch the Bullroarer client and log into it sometime during the 2 hour stress test. You'll then be automatically entered to win one of several cool prizes, like a new CPU and RAM, a solid state hard drive, a new video card, or a new box copy of Mines of Moria signed by the developers of the game.

Tolkien's Character's of The Lord of the Rings, a custom avatar creation widget, and of course, lots more in the way of our great guides and popular site features.

But in the meantime, we're celebrating our first year on the web by featuring some newly-updated content, including the newest and Moria-ready version of Murgol's Burglar Guide, bringing our Burglar Guide in line with the rest of our updated class guides, as well as the latest from Murgol's truly "Legendary" Legendary Items Guide series, The Life and Death of Legendary Items. We're also featuring our Epic Quest Narrative: Dwarf Intro and our Epic Quest Narrative: Elf Intro which now reflect the changes to these quests made in game, Urich's newly-polished Metalsmith Skill-up Guide, now with complete info to Tier 6, and our brand new and all-inclusive LOTRO music tutorial by our resident minstrel Velvyn, Creating Custom ABC Files.
