I've used Teamspeak(TS) before. I've used Ventrillo (Vent) more recently, including my current kinship.
I am a little slow to get into it. Trying not to interrupt is not as natural for me. I think it is, socially, very useful and more exciting than typing.
Our guild started using TeamSpeak some time back when it was forming (the guild, not TS :P) and I think everyone felt it made gameplay much more fun and dynamic. Definitely more interesting anyway, with some of the great cut-up and witty guild characters we had onboard, early on.
We currently have a private Ventrilo server we regularly use for our gaming days/nights, so yeah, I use it.
I don't really know what the fuss about breaking the fantasy is, though I know some people feel this way. It seems to me text chat can be just as immersion breaking with the frequent use of web lingo and even the sometimes use of l33t speech. ne1 no wut i m33n? ;)
I probably play as much for the social interaction as for the escapism, so I can have fun using VT without any unrealistic expectations.
In fact I can probably say listening to the various dialects, accents, and intonations from people around the world (and locally) always makes the game a little more interesting to me.
Let's don't forget it makes strategic planning, coordination, and complex maneuvers more doable and dynamic.
Interruption can sometimes be a problem, but it's a minor issue compared to the benefits.
