Here's a very cool little writeup on Champions Online legendary undersea kingdom of Lemuria, discussing the background lore, plus a nice little informative interview with CO's executive producer, Bill Roper. :)

If Champions Online is going to have this kind of under-represented popular power as an option for characters, then the variety of options must be down-right staggering! AWESOME!
Check it out. Click here.
Now is that awesome, or is that awesome?
That, my dear dwarf, is awesome. I was swept off my feet when I saw it... swept off by some SUPER SWINGING HERO. Great vid, thx.
Yet another awesome video!

Man, every trailer from this game always manages to impress me. This game is going to be awesome! And check out that one nemesis at the end of the trailer; HE IS HUGE!
The options in this game must be staggering if you can make your nemesis 10 stories tall.
Go Cryptic!
Yay, another video from Cryptic showing off sorcery powers!

Seems like there is a lot of variety in it.
This July 14, coming to a PC near you; Champions Online!
Chances are I'll be there thwarting evil plots on day 1--or getting my butt kicked by a bunch a street thugs.
Anyways, like I said, this July 14 the much anticipated Champions will finally be out. And hey, Heroic-Justice loves company so I hope to see you all there.
In the words of the Champions Online Devs, "No more name squatting!"
In Champions Online, players will not have to compete for names, you can have two "Super Sam" heroes running--er flying about. The way the the the game handles not getting confused between different characters of the same name is by your global handle name, which does have to be unique, but doesn't show up on your character's name; think of it like a last name.
The interesting side affect of this, is the lack of need for a traditional server system. Effecively, as far as the players is concerned, everyone is on the same server. Champions will observe the ebb and flow of players and create instances of every zone to reflect that. If there are a ton of people in Millennium City, another instance will be created, and if there is that many people, they instances will be closed. This is so that you'll always see a bunch of players, no matter what time of day it is.
Keep up the good work Cryptic!
Cryptic recently announced another of their travel powers: Tunneling!
Unusual? Yes. Awesome? Absolutely. From what I hear, it constitutes something like "stealth" power, since no one can see your tunneling.
Check out the video here!
Kinda of reminds of of Bugs Bunny though, in a funny kind of way.
OH! And did you see that cat-man? Not only did he have a fully animated tail, but he runs on all fours.
Keep it up, Cryptic!
That's unique. Champions looks like its going to have everything in terms of making your character its own. Love the travel powers. Swinging, tunneling--whats next? I want to travel on a cloud like the Monkey King from Asian folklore. :P
Straight from the Devs at Cryptic, developers of Champions Online:
"We wanted our fans to hear this from us first... We’re changing our Champions Online launch date from July 14th to September 1st of this year.
Why? Here’s what our own Bill Roper, Design Director and Executive Producer on Champions Online, had to say about it:
“It is critically important for an MMO to be as good as it possibly can be at launch. Through our constant dialogue with our vocal and supportive community of beta testers, we quickly realized that in order to implement certain features that we all considered important the development of Champions Online would require more time. So that's what we're going to give it. Cryptic has a proven track record of releasing solid games and we want to maintain that with Champions Online.”
What does this mean for you? Simply, more beta play time right now and a better, more polished game at launch."
Don't believe me? Check out their site. . .
Why do the gods of gaming cruelly tease us so?! Oh well, more time to get my alts their radiance gear.
Here are some interesting articles on the nature of the power sets in CO.
It seems that each power set has it's "mechanic" which boosts how well it works. And the more powers you have in that power set, the more apparent it becomes. This is a really nice balancing factor.
As far as I understand it, it works like this: All powers from the "Fire" power set have a chance to ignite an enemy with a fire DoT. Also, the article seems to suggest that you can set objects on fire or at least there are just objects around that happen to be on fire. If you've got a bunch of powers from the "Fire" power set, all the powers that generate endurance will generate more endurance if you are surrounded by fire, either from the DoT you can inflict on mobs or from objects that are on fire. The more fire powers you have the more often this will happen. On the other hand if you have less fire powers and more lightning powers, the synergy bonus you get from fire powers won't be quite as strong, but you'll also get a synergy bonus from the lightning powers.
By the way, the bonus from the "Lightning" power set seems to come in the form of some effect called "negative ions". The more times you strike an enemy with a lightning power (who says lightning never strikes the same place twice?), you'll build up "negative ions" on the enemy. The more "negative ions", the greater chance that any lightning attack will chain onto a nearby enemy. Supposedly, if that second enemy also has a bunch of "negative ions", the lightning could chain again, to yet another enemy, but it seems to stop there.
Fascinating stuff really, but check out the articles for yourself:

Champions Online Powers Interview #3 - Ice, Fire, and Electricity
Strangely, the second article of this set has seems to have magically disappeared, but I'll link here if I manage to find it.
Here is a series of article about CO's varies power sets, and a bunch of information on them. Check them out.
Energy Projectors
Martial Arts
Power Replacers
Mystic Powers
The Powers setup is the best I've seen in any game. I really like both the Martial Arts and the Mystic. Like you can be a vampire and have very vampire-like customized powers, or you can be an alien or a magic-user, and have very different kinds of Mystic powers depending on your theme, even tbough they might all be Mystic. And very unique and customized besides. Dang.
These sets let you be so diverse and unique. I am really in awe of Champions Online and how they are allowing everything in their world to be so unique, from environments to superhero powers to appearance. THey are taking it to a whole new level that will make it tough for gamers to feel satisfied with the generic set builds that games have offered so far.
I would like to have a bit of magic and some martial art mixed togeather.
In Champions Online, you CAN do that. Heck, if you wanted a cyborg-ninja-fairy with purple and pink ice-bolts and a minigun, you could do that to. The sky is the limit in CO. Unless your character is an alien--then space is the limit. :P
Just to prove my point, check out this video. Be aware of much awesomeness however, and make sure you have the next hour or so free before watching it as you may find yourself stunned for that time by the sheer coolness of the the stuff in video.
Just when you thought you couldn't take any more awesome, I give you some more.

Pre-order Open Beta!
All pre-orders of Champions Online also include access to the Open Beta.
Kinda Open Beta since you need to pre-order or have a premium account with fileplanet to get a key. So is anyone going to Pre-Order and play next week?
Pre-order, yes. Play, no.
The game just barely launched, and Cryptic has already got a Halloween even in the works.
Right now, there is just this simple teaser page. It looks like it'll be update as All Hallows Eve approaches.
