Recent European Stratics chat drops tasty tidbits for Book 14 and beyond...
Submitted by Murgol on Sat, 06/28/2008 - 14:08
Recently, LotRO developers took some times to answer questions from European players, including some tantalizing info about the upcoming expansion, Book 14!
zigzag - *Godot* Where will the new 6 man instances take place and what size will they be? (BG or more like CD)
Keth_Turbine - They will take place in... familiar locations.
Keth_Turbine - As for scope, I designed them to be pretty quick, a 1/2 hour to an hour, but unpredictable and a bit random.
Keth_Turbine - Let's just say, you haven't seen any instances like this in LOTRO before.![]()

From MMORPG.com
LotRO's Executive Producer Jeffrey Steefel's got an interview at MMORPG.com detailing the live event system and other plans for Book 14, the emphasis on the upcoming Mines of Moria, and even a little about Turbine's new console endeavors. Here's just a snippet:“We’re in the final stages of Book 14,” Steefel answered when I asked him what projects were in full swing over at Turbine. “We also have another group of people who are working very hard on Moria, which is coming together.”

LOTROinfo Class Art
Submitted by Newmoon on Wed, 06/11/2008 - 08:04
We've just added the first of a group of class art portraits -- and I do mean "class" -- to accompany our class guides, which you can currently find in Urich's Guardian Guide, and will eventually appear in the introduction and conclusion pages of each of our guides.
These beautiful pieces of art are initially collaborated on by our staff, and finely produced by our guildy Orbawyn, just for the pages of our class guides. They're worth taking a look at, while your perusing our quality, comprehensive guides, or just to oogle! Have a look at the first here: Urich the Guardian. Check back often for upcoming class art.LOTRO Soundtrack Download

Yo, read this!
Turbine is dedicated to bringing a great game experience to our customers, and as part of this commitment we're rolling out a beta of our new Turbine Download Manager. In the future, this new technology will be used to make the game experience better for our players through a process called "forward patching." The Turbine Download Manager runs silently in the background of your computer and keeps your Turbine games up to date by patching new content in advance of its release date. Your installation will automatically be kept up to date, and you'll never again have to wait for the download or installation of a patch or content update!
Eleventy-Seven Morsels
Submitted by Murgol on Fri, 05/30/2008 - 22:48
Enough of all this dwarf-rubbish of wargames and axe tossing. Eleventy-Seven Morsels is a fun game that you can really sink your teeth into. It's a board game, see, only the pieces are tasty tidbits.
Morsels is fun, and seemingly simple, but make no mistake, it is a game full of deep strategy! Also, the winning conditions can change from game to game, so it keeps you on your hairy toes! Do you try to fill up your score bin, or store up your snack sack instead? Sometimes, its better to give all your morsels to your opponent so you can win them back at the end of the game, other times you must try to steal every juicy bit -- like a hungry hobbit going after a fresh-baked pie.
More Teasers on Upcoming LotRO Content!

Ten Ton Hammer's got some interesting tidbits on upcoming Book 14 and the Mines of Moria expansion in their recent interview with LotRO's Executive Producer Jeffrey Steefel. Here's a snippet:
(Darkgolem) Now that fishing is available, what sort of plans for that particular hobby do you have in the future?
(Jeffrey) For hobbies in general we tried make sure that we didn't just hard code fishing into the game, that we actually built a hobby system, so that we could begin adding other hobbies. Probably not until next year, when it is appropriate we are going to start adding extra hobbies to the game, and they could be all kinds of different things, from painting or something similar.

The Music of LOTRO
Submitted by Velvyn on Wed, 05/21/2008 - 23:12
Hey, everybody! I, your friendly neighborhood Minstrel, Velvyn Silverstrings, uploaded an overview of the LOTRO music system. You should have a look at it HERE, especially if your unfamiliar with the system in general. I also added a great key-mapping setup guide for maximum musical ease! Also, soon to come: an ABC (files that play songs automatically in-game) guide, and a abc file library! Look forward to it!

Unlock the Mines of Moria: Swig and Toss
Submitted by Urich on Mon, 05/12/2008 - 19:15
Come on down to the local tavern at Thorin's Hall. Take a few swigs of quality Dwarven ale, and try your hand at axe-tossing . . . in that order! Oh sure, that bull's-eye looks like an easy target now, but try hitting after "just one more drink!"
Swig and Toss is a favourite Dwarven drinking game, but all are invited, even those silly elves. The rules are simple: You bet some coins that you can hit the target, but you can only bet so much, and if you want to wager more, you'll have to take swig! The more drinks, the more you can bet! Oh but after a few, that target starts to get a little bit fuzzy.
