Miria's Lore-master Guide

INTRODUCTION

Miria's Guide to the Lore-master

I've played a lore-master since the early days of LotRO, and have found its complexity challenging, but most of all fun. I've always liked playing the "caster" type; there's something about that playing style that keeps drawing me back. It has a subtlety and grace that in my mind makes it stand out from other classes, in that its offense is more cerebral in form. I love the role-playing aspects of this archetype! Caster-types are often themed as intellectuals, with a store of secretive, arcane knowlege known only to the select, and the lore-master is certainly no exception to this rule. With its knowledge-based arsenal of tricks and reveries, its ties to the flora and fauna and forces of nature, and its connection to an ancient lore lost to the present world, the lore-master is LotRO's answer to the time-honored, master of magic!

One of the most enjoyable parts of playing this type of class is the complexity involved. Lore-masters, following the traditional "magic" archetype, are clever and wise sages, so it makes sense that the layered play-style of a lore-master would reflect this. As a lore-master, you will be called upon to make quick, and often tricky decisions to save yourself or assist your fellowship members. You will often have to decide the best course of action in handling a large group of enemies. You will also likely have to learn to adjust your play style to group or solo dynamics. Most of all, should prepare for a bit of challenge and fun!

And while this is in no way claimed to be an "expert" guide on the matter (and there is likely no "one true way" to play a lore-master) as the class is steeped in layers of versatility, the following guide represents my own experiences and tips in successfully playing a lore-master over many months of time.
